Sandra Nixon - Pilates Instructor

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AN INSTRUCTOR?
2 and a half years

HOW DID YOU BECOME INVOLVED WITH PILATES?
Through injury rehab. I saw what it could do (and did) for my body and I was hooked!⠀

WHAT MADE YOU BECOME A TRAINER?⠀
Probably the above, I was always a big gym goer and played lots of sports and experienced my fair share of injuries. The changes I saw in my body turned me into a raving fan and I wanted everyone to know about pilates! My favourite quote about pilates is this one ‘Teaching pilates lets me spread and share the idea that wellness doesn’t have to be about how you look – but how you feel.⠀

FAVOURITE PART OF THE BODY TO TRAIN?⠀
Probably a tie between glutes and any kind of Thoracic rotation… feels
sooo good!⠀

3 BEST THINGS ABOUT YOUR JOB?⠀
• The clients. I’ve met so many amazing people.⠀
• Seeing the changes in clients bodies and being able to share their journey with them. ⠀
• The constant learning and knowledge you gain from each and every movement.⠀

WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A NEWBIE?⠀
Just give it one class. You won’t regret it. And don’t worry about doing it wrong. You’re only doing it wrong if you don’t come to class 😉

QUALIFICATIONS:⠀
Bachelor of Medical Science, Cert 3 and 4 in fitness, Matwork and Reformer Certifications.⠀
Currently teaching and exploring the world of clinical pilates while I study osteopathy.⠀

INTERESTS OUTSIDE PILATES?⠀
F45, softball, beach days and reading crime novels.
