Karen Woolley - Pilates Instructor

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN INSTRUCTING? 4 years⠀

HOW DID YOU BECOME INVOLVED?⠀
I’ve been involved as a Pilates participant for over 20 years. However, it wasn’t until I began to exercise again after a big break post having children, that I was introduced to the Pilates Reformer. I fell in love with it and started attending as many classes as I could fit in each week. ⠀

WHY DID YOU BECOME AN INSTRUCTOR? ⠀
My love of exercising with the Reformer; how it made me feel (mentally and physically) and wanting to share that opportunity with everyone! I also wanted to deepen my knowledge and create my own programs.⠀

FAVOURITE MOVE OR BODY PART TO WORK?⠀
Love working the glutes, and balance and stability work. You can’t go past an intense lunge and scooter set to feel that burn! Also obliques… side lying double leg lift is a fave.⠀

BEST THINGS ABOUT YOUR JOB?⠀
– Meeting so many people from all different backgrounds, getting to know them and helping them to get the most from their workouts⠀

– Seeing the transformation in clients: their strength, connection to their bodies and overall well-being⠀

– Continual opportunities to deepen knowledge and understanding⠀

– Being part of such a talented team of beautiful caring souls (I know that’s 4 things!)⠀
WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A NEWBIE? ⠀
Please don’t compare yourself to others. We all have a different starting place. Feel gratitude for the time you are taking for yourself, and be proud of your progress!⠀

QUALIFICATIONS:⠀
B Bus (Health Admin), B Bus (Hons)⠀
Certifications in Pilates Matwork, Pilates Reformer and Barre⠀

INTERESTS OUTSIDE PILATES?⠀
My family life takes most of my time outside of Pilates (both as instructor and participant – I LOVE going to classes). I especially love beach holidays, music, baking, reading, catching up with girlfriends (I love coffee!) and a good “Netflix and chill” session with my husband.
